Introduction
Sri Bhuvanendra Pu college Karkala the vision of Dr. T. M. A. Pai, governed by the Academy of General Education, Manipal with 54 glorious years not just produce literates but has always been very keen in educating young men and women for the nation.
The college is housed in a magnificent building providing good facilities to the students preparing them for every walk of life.
Experienced and qualified staff
The staff consists of a band of experienced men and women with super qualification such as U. G. C. Examination, S.L.E.T., M. Phil., and B. Ed., endowed with the finest qualities of head and heart, who are always available for the students round the clock.
Well Equiped Laboratories
The college has separate newly established well equipped laboratories in physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science which can accommodate any number of students.
HOSTELS
The college has three big hostels two for men (Dr. Madhava Pai Vidyarthi Nikethan and Vivekananda hostel) and one for women ( Sharadha Sadana) with clean, hygienic and nutritious food .They are run under the general control of the wardens, where the prefects are chosen for every block who will keep a general supervision in maintaining the discipline and cleanliness of the hostels.
C. E. T. CENTER
Students of Sri Bhuvanendra P U college are more privileged as the college itself is a C. E. T. Centre, the only centre for Karkala taluk. Students from other colleges of karkala write their C. E. T. Examination in our college.J.E.E./C.E.T. COACHING CLASSES
The college has always been trying to improve the quality of education through experimentation and innovations. Hence the college has C.E.T. coaching classes tied up with EDURITE, Manipal. The college has also released C.E.T. booklets in physics, chemistry, maths, biology of its own, prepared by our staff.These classes are conducted throughout the year even on Saturdays and Sundays. Many students have excelled getting good ranks in Medical and engineering. J.E.E. classes are also conducted for aspiring students.
REMEDIAL CLASSES
The college has always maintained the highest educational standards securing excellent results in the II P.U. Board Examinations. The college gives ample opportunities for learning. Therefore special remedial classes are conducted for slow learns . These classes are must for those students who get low marks in the term examinations.These classes are conducted after the regular class hours from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. by respective subject teachers.
MID-DAY MEALS CENTRE
The college provides hot lunch for students at Subsidized rate. Year after year many students take the benefit of this lunch.
N.C.C. (Army/Navy)
The college N.C.C. is another feather in the hat of the college were students have achieved internationally. The N.C.C. has Navy and Army wings. Many boys and girls join N.C.C. for better prospects of carrier.
SPORTS AND GAMES
The Bhuvanendras are very much aware that all work and no play make Jack and Jill a dull boy and Girl. Hence Sports and Games are also given equal importance. The college has a very big sports ground including a gym which facilitate the games activities.
The Indoor stadium costing Rs. 1 crore, donated by the Alumni association of the college in the name of the founder principal K. Damodhar kini has accelerated the interest in sports and games among the students.
YAKSHAGANA
Yakshagana is one of the beautiful folk art of Dakshina Kannada. College too has a museum called Indraprastha. The college yakshagana troop is praise worthy which has brought fame to the college. Boys and Girls with lectures perform this beautiful folk art together.
SAGES(Scholarships For Academy of General Education Students)
OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS IN MANIPAL UNIVERSITY:Manipal University’s Scholarships for Academy of General Education students is an attempt to change that perception. SAGES serves two purposes; first, to give back to Manipal University’s parent organisation, the AGE (Academy of General Education), from which Manipal university was born, and the second to be the University of choice for the best and the brightest in the vicinity of Manipal.
SAGES provides Education at MU for the academic toppers of the institutions of AGE and Dr. T. M. A. Pai Foundation.
SCHEME :Preferential seat allotment in MBBS and Engineering to the students who have studied in our college. Merit-cum-means scholarships are provided for all the students who have admitted to various courses at MU under this scheme.
Infrastructural facilities:
• The College is housed in magnificient buildings with well-furnished classrooms, office rooms, staff rooms and Laboratories.
• The College Library is fully computerized with open-access system. It has UGC Book Bank, Video Hall, reference section, reading room, internet and reprographic facilities. Overnight lending of books is done through Borrower's Ticket. A number of Newspapers, Journals, Magazines, Novels, Encylopaedia, etc., are also available in the Library. The library is kept open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working days.
• The College has separate hostels for boys and girls with all necessary facilities which ensure peaceful environment for undisturbed study.
• All departments have set up Departmental libraries with good collection of Refernce books which are also issued to the students and staff .
• The College has an Open air stage and spacious Conference Halls with Public address system and LCD facilities.
• The Yakshagana Museum Indrapastha, Archaeology Museum and the Biology Museums are rich centres of learning in the respective fields.
• The college has 400 metres track playground, spacious Sports Pavilion, Multi Gymnasium and Basket ball and shuttle badminton courts. Facilities are also provided for playing table tennis, carom, chess, etc., Prof. K.D. Kini Memorial Indoor stadium is constructed with the generous contributions from Alumni association.
• The Mid day meal centre of the college provides lunch to the needy and poor students free/at concessional rate.
• Health-Centre is established in the College campus for the medical check up of the students. Dr. K. Sooryakantha Shenoy Dr. Asha P. Hegde are available as Medical Advisors.
• The College has sufficient Vehicle parking space, Bank, ATM facility, Canteen, Public telephone booth, Botanical garden, Vermiculture .
• Good public transport system is available to the College from the town.
